TAP is engaged in a variety of projects that are centered around the ideas of building a statewide network of progressive organizations and creating a new paradigm for our society based on democratic values and the idea that “We're All in This Together. Compass VI Conference on Green Jobs on Dec. 4-5, 2009. The Conference will bring together green jobs activists from around the region plus representatives of national groups like Green for All, the Apollo Alliance, PolicyLink and will include a Youth Track featuring a performance from Youth Speaks/Nashville. read more

Green-Collar Jobs Task Force of Nashville/Davidson County. Our mission is to create green jobs as pathways out of poverty for distressed communities. read more

Popular Education Workshops around vision and values and our new workshop on Sustainability, Equity and the Economy. TAP's workshops are designed to move political dialogue beyond the "go-it-alone" mentality that dominates public discourse today, to a paradigm of interconnectedness and government for the common good. Nashville School Re-Segregation Lawsuit. TAP is a plaintiff in the case that the NAACP is spearheading against Metro Nashville School Board. read more

Common Vision Network brings together leaders from a variety of issue areas to build a network of progressive organizations around a shared vision for the future of Tennessee. Our goal is to gain power for a progressive agenda that serves all the people of our state.

Common Message Project is an initiative of the Ford Foundation and the Center for Community Change. The goals of the Common Message Project are to conduct a process to identify the core values that Tennesseans believe in and that motivate them to action and create a joint message that encompasses these values, connects to economic justice issues, and is shared by a number of Tennessee organizations. A poll of 2,000 Tennesseans around message framing was conducted by University of Tennessee. (add link to research findings).

Educational Forums. TAP holds forums on pressing issues such as TennCare, ethics, and education. (add link to past forums)

Compass Conferences. TAP holds annual two-day statewide gatherings that bring activists from around the state together for workshops, keynote speakers (past speakers have included Jim Hightower, David Sirota, and Paul Waldman) and films. (add link to past conferences)

Long Haul Awards. TAP gives out annual Long Haul Awards, including Young Leader awards, to outstanding activists from around the state. Candidates are nominated and voted on by TAP supporters. Here is a report from the 2009 Long Haul Celebration. (add link)

Doing Justly is designed to empower Nashville’s faith communities to become more actively involved in social, economic and environmental justice issues. (add link to Doing Justly page).

Harmon Wray Textbook Fund. Harmon Wray (1946-2007) was active in TAP and in other local progressive organizations. He worked to abolish the death penalty, to reform prisons, and for other causes; was one of the founders of Tennessee Coalition to Abolish State Killing (later renamed Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty); he was coauthor of Beyond Prisons: A New Interfaith Paradigm for Our Failed Prison System. In his memory, TAP collects and administers a fund to buy books for prison inmates. (click here to donate)
