2010 Long Haul Nominations

TAP will hold its annual Long Haul Awards on May 22, 2010 in Nashville and we are seeking nominations for these awards.

This year we will be recognizing our elders by giving out three 2010 Lifetime Achievement Long Haul Awards. We are seeking people who have made a significant contribution over a period of years to social change in Tennessee. As with all of our awards, we are especially interested in having a diverse group of people recognized and we are actively seeking nominees who are people of color and women. We would like to give awards to one person from East Tennessee, one from West Tennessee and one from Middle Tennessee.

We also want to give six 2010 Long Haul Awards to leaders who are doing outstanding work today on issues of social, economic and environmental justice. Our goal is to give Long Haul awards to two persons from East Tennessee, two persons from West Tennessee and two persons from Middle Tennessee.

We also want to recognize our youth. This year we want give out three 2010 TAP Young Leaders Awards (one from each area of the state.) We are seeking people under the age of 30 who are rising stars in the progressive movement, who have demonstrated a high level of commitment and talent, who inspire other young people into action, who are committed organizers and who bring fresh ideas and new approaches to the progressive movement.

If you would like to nominate someone for a Lifetime Achievement Long Haul Award, a Long Haul Award and/or a Young Leader Award, please follow this link and make your nomination. The deadline for nominations is 11:59 PM on Wednesday March 24th! We look forward to receiving your nominations by this date. Thanks.

After we receive all of your nominations, a voting form will be posted here; you will be able to vote for the candidates of your choice from March 26th until April 16th. The final awardees will be announced on April 19, 2010.

P.S. We have posted a list of past Lifetime Achievement, Long Haul and Young Leaders awardees on the nomination page. Please do not nominate someone who has already received this honor. Thank you.
